CASP17 Conference

1 December – 5 December CET
Rome, Italy.
CASP17, the 17th Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction, will be held in Rome, Italy, December 1–5, 2026, and will bring together the international structural biology and computational modeling community for a close look at what today’s structure prediction methods can actually achieve.
Centered on the results of the latest blind CASP experiment, the meeting will feature independent assessments, presentations by leading prediction groups, discussion sessions, posters, and extensive opportunities for informal exchange. Topics will include protein and RNA structure prediction, protein–protein and protein–nucleic acid complexes, immune complexes, ligand binding, and conformational ensembles, with special emphasis on the latest AI-driven approaches.
CASP meetings are distinctive because predictive performance is evaluated prospectively, before experimental structures become publicly available. This provides an unusually rigorous and unbiased assessment of genuine progress, current limitations, and the directions in which the field is evolving. CASP17 will also explore new ways of broadening community participation in structure prediction challenges, including potential collaboration with platforms such as Kaggle.
